PNC Bank return rollers reluctant but guard free checking

Filed under: bankingPNC Bank, a major regional bank with 2,500 locations in 15 States, announced that it will more rewards debit and out-of-network ATM refunds on accounts free checking, September 12. Unlike some other banks, however, PNC customers will always get free checking with no minimum balance.

"The key element of what PNC, is that it is retaining checking free," Ed Mierzwinski, Program Director of the consumer group monitoring U.S. PIRG, told WalletPop. "I think the message of base here is that banks will try different things to try to provide value to their customers." "The Bank believes free provides the value of the audit", he said. Accounts which carry a right or a requirement of minimum balance will continue to win rewards of flow.
